Enterprising Georgia is a joint venture of The MIT Enterprise Forum of Atlanta (www.mitforumatlanta.org) and the Georgia Research Alliance (www.gra.org), providing a series of broadcast events that explore business and technology challenges in areas of pressing importance worldwide, with reflection on Georgia’s role in meeting these challenges. The Georgia Tech Strategic Energy Institute (www.energy.gatech.edu) represents Georgia Tech's commitment to serve as a national resource for energy information dissemination and to play a leadership role in the transition to a more sustainable energy economy.

At this event we will discuss:

  • How does US dependence on foreign oil impact national security? * Can an intelligent energy policy not only reduce climate change, but lower the risk of regional conflict and promote greater national security?
  • What are the prospects for significantly increasing the production of ethanol in our country in the next 10 years, and how will it impact our energy consumption?
  • Can the Southeast's and Northwest's abundant resource of pine trees have a significant impact on the emerging ethanol economy?
