Jim Scholefield

Jim is the Chief Technology Officer for The Coca-Cola Company. Jim is responsible for creating and executing worldwide information technology strategy and infrastructure across The Coca-Cola Company. This includes providing global leadership across the Coca-Cola enterprise on all technology matters.

Jim has over 23 years of experience in the IT organizations of large global enterprises. Prior to his role at the Coca-Cola Company Jim held IT leadership roles at Northern Trust, the Ford Motor Company and Procter and Gamble. Jim has an MS from the Georgia Institute of Technology and BS from Florida State University.

Edwin Marcial

CTO, Intercontinental Exchange

Edwin Marcial

Mr. Edwin D. Marcial is Senior Vice President, Chief Technology Officer of IntercontinentalExchange, Inc., since May 2000. He is responsible for all systems development and technology strategy. He oversees the software design and development initiatives of information technology professionals in the areas of project management, architecture, software development and quality assurance. Mr. Marcial joined the software development team at Continental Power Exchange, Inc. in 1996 and has nearly 20 years of IT experience building scale systems in the energy industry. Prior to joining Continental Power Exchange, Inc., he led design and development teams at Harris Corporation building software systems for the company’s energy controls division. Mr. Marcial earned a B.S. degree in Computer Science from the College of Engineering at the University of Florida.

Bill VanCuren

CIO, NCR

Bill VanCuren

Bill VanCuren is vice president and CIO for NCR Corporation. Bill is a member of both the corporate leadership team and Chief Financial Office organizations. 

His current assignment as the CIO has oversight over the full application realization process, portfolio management, global networks and processing services for both internal and external customer services, security and compliancy, and all workgroup computing. Bill has  30 years of experience in the information technology (IT) field and has held increasingly responsible positions.

Bill has driven world-class levels of both efficiency and improved effectiveness via a combined IT and business governance.  As a result of implementing leading practice strategies, his organization is consistently named to the Information Week500, and Bill was named enterprise CIO of the year in Georgia for 2011.  He was also featured in wsj.com and Network World in 2013 for advanced implementations of Big Data and BYOD security respectively.

He earned his Bachelor of Science degree, Cum Laude, from The Ohio State University and his Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Dayton. He has also received executive training at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California, along with a variety of extended leadership training from the NCR University.

He is a board member of the Technology Association of Georgia (TAG) and Georgia CIO Leadership Association(GCLA).  He is also an Advisory Board Member for the College of Engineering at Georgia Tech and the University of Georgia – Terry School of Business, MIS Department.   Bill is also the 2014 co-chair for the Techbridge Digital Ball.

Bill lives in Cumming, Georgia with his wife, Jeannie, and their three sons.  His hobbies include skiing and landscaping. Bill is a member of both The Ohio State University Buckeye Club and the President’s Club. 

Dave Barnes

CIO, UPS

Dave Barnes

Dave Barnes is chief information officer (CIO) for UPS. In this role, he is responsible for all aspects of UPS technology used to serve more than 220 countries and territories around the world. This technology includes the Delivery Information Acquisition Device (DIAD) carried by UPS drivers, advanced package flow technologies, and telematics programs that provide real time updates on UPS vehicles. Under his leadership, UPS has invested more than $1 billion each year in technology and is widely recognized as one of the world's most innovative providers of logistics.

 Dave also chairs the UPS Information Technology Governance Committee, which is responsible for the direction of UPS technology investments, ensuring they stay aligned with the company's business vision and strategy.

Prior to being named CIO, Barnes was UPS's vice president, Application Portfolios. He oversaw customer technology, customer development, as well as transportation applications development.

 Dave has a long track record of customer focus since joining the company in 1977 as a part-time package loader in St. Louis, Mo. He held key positions during UPS's global expansion efforts in the late 1980s and early 1990s, combining his financial expertise and knowledge of the transportation industry and daily business operations with a firm grasp of technology. Notably, Barnes was the lead business manager on the development of the International Shipments Processing System (ISPS), a Smithsonian award-winning software application developed internally at UPS.

 In 1986, Dave was assigned to the start-up team for UPS Airlines. Later, he managed virtually all UPS technology initiatives that directly touched the customer, including ups.com and a growing number of Internet-based shipping tools.

Barnes earned his bachelor's degree in business administration at the University of Missouri while working as a part-time supervisor for UPS. He is a member of the United Way of America Board of Trustees.

Ephraim McLean

Director, Center for Research in Information Systems, GSU Robinson College

Ephraim McLean

McLean is an internationally recognized expert and lecturer on information systems. His extensive consulting experience includes work for BellSouth, Chick-fil-A, Citibank, Digital Equipment, IBM, and Primerica, among others.

McLean has published three books: Strategic Planning for MISManagement of Information Services, and Information Technology for Management, the latter until recently being the second largest selling textbook on information systems in the world.

He has also published more than 120 scholarly and professional articles in such publications as the Harvard Business ReviewSloan Management Review,Information Systems ResearchMIS QuarterlyJournal of MIS, and Computerworld. He has conducted executive presentations and management workshops throughout North America, Europe, Australia, and Asia. He is listed in Marquis’ Who’s Who in America and Who’s Who in the World.  McLean has a Ph.D. and S.M. from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a M.E. and B.M.E. from Cornell University.
