Mobile Data and App Security

Gartner predicts that 75 percent of mobile applications will fail most basic security tests through 2015. HP reviewed 2,100 mobile apps last year and said 97 percent access the users private information and 86 percent of those apps did not have adequate security measures in place to protect them from common exploits. These statistics are too high to ignore.

  • In the tug of war between mobile app time to market and security requirements, time to market often wins, leaving applications, and their users, at risk.
  • To maintain competitive advantage developers are building and updating mobile apps at a very rapid pace. Unfortunately, this often means that these apps are released without adequate security considerations.
  • The result: a rise of risky mobile apps that compromise critical data and information. Even worse, without an external audit or sufficient pre-testing, most enterprises are not aware that their 3rd party and internally developed applications lack standard security.
