Our Program and Events:

The MIT Enterprise Forum of Atlanta offers a variety of programs:

General Events feature local and national technology-based entrepreneurs as speakers and panelists on a wide variety of topics. In the past year we have hosted technology industry greats Walt Mossberg, Technology Columnist of the Wall Street Journal; Charles Philips, CEO of Oracle Corporation; and Ralph de la Vega, President and CEO of ATT Mobility. In the past year three of our general events were broadcasted or webcasted to viewing sites around the world with our local audience becoming the live studio audience. We have done eight worldwide broadcasts since our inception in 2000.

Our Members-only VIP Private Receptions provide members with the opportunity to meet event speakers on a personal level in conjunction with one of the core programs. The receptions are hosted by MIT Enterprise Forum sponsors and are offered free of charge to members to enable close interaction with the speakers.

The Distinguished Entrepreneur Series features a highly regarded expert in a hot technology, the development of new enterprises or a related field. Speakers in this series have included Lester Thurow, former Dean of the MIT Sloan School of Management; James Rothnie, CTO of EMC; Ginnie Rometty, General Manager of IBM Global Services and IBM’s top ranking woman; and Bob Metcalfe, founder of 3COM and inventor of Ethernet; Glen Robinson, founder of Scientific-Atlanta; Cam Lanier President of ITC Holding Company; Pete Petit, Founder and CEO of Matria Healthcare, Tripp Rackley, Founder of Firethorn and Alana Shepherd, Co-founder of the Shepherd Center.

Other Events:

Our long-running “Run It By the Pros” Workshops offer attendees the opportunity to witness the behind-the-scenes dialogue between three entrepreneurs and a panel of veteran entrepreneurs and venture capitalists. The panel examines and discusses four business plans with their founders and provides actionable and candid advice, generates real-life, honest discussion and debate and offers objective feedback and advice. The in-the-round discussion format provides a unique and rare opportunity to talk honestly and frankly with some true pros. Attendees are invited to present their business plans or be part of the audience in this afternoon workshop. Our chapter hosts two of these per year and they are open to the public.

The Forum creates "Entrepreneurs Uncensored" events which include a "tell all" session with local serial entrepreneurs. This interactive workshop allows for extensive questions from the audience.. Past speakers include Dick Cook, former CEO of MAPICS, Inc.; Jamie Bardin, former President and CEO of EZ Prints; and Greg Smith, former CEO and Chairman of Advectics Inc. Our chapter hosts two of these per year and they are open to the public.

We also host our new, but ever popular "New Talent Exchange" networking events. These informal gatherings allow long time technology and business professionals to mix and mingle with new-comers on the technology or business scene. An informal networking introduction activity is held at this events which typcially take place in Atlanta area watering holes. Our chapter hosts two of these per year and they are open to the public.
